Refrigerator Dinner Rolls

There is just nothing better than sitting down to dinner with a meal straight from your garden and dinner rolls made with your own hands.

Refrigerator Dinner Rolls

Make them or leave them in the frig for about a week until you need them! Dinner Rolls from scratch that are easy to make!

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups Warm water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 5 tsp. yeast
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 2 tbsp shortening
  • 2 eggs beaten
  • 8 cups flour I use all purpose

Instructions

  • Begin by melting your shortening in a saucepan over medium high heat. Once it is melted take off of the heat to cool.
  • In a large bowl, add water, sugar, and yeast. Whisk together. Then allow to rest and bloom for about 10 minutes.
  • While that is resting, in another bowl add flour and salt and stir together until combined.
  • Add 1/2 of the flour mixture into the yeast mixture, stir, then add shortening and eggs and mixture together.
  • Add one cup of flour at a time from this point on until a dough is formed. Knead for about 5 minutes or until smooth.
  • This is where you can put the bowl in the refrigerator for about a week if needed. Add plastic wrap or beeswax wrap to the top of your bowl and place in the frig.
  • To continue and make rolls the same day, Take the dough and make them into your rolls.
  • Allow to rise until double in size. Usually 1 to 2 hours.
  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Then bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown.
