Chocolate Cobbler

When my son (son-n-law) came into the family, his favorite dessert was my chocolate cake. But my icing was to rich for him. Then, he let it slip that he loves hot fudge! So here I go, trying and making something that would end up to be his favorite dessert. And yes, he ask for it once a week.
This is a very easy dessert to make that will become your family’s favorite.

First thing, turn your oven on to 350 degrees. Then in a bowl mix your sugar, flour, cocoa, milk, butter, and vanilla. Put the mixture in your greased 11×17 or 9×13 baking pan.

Now in that same bowl, mix your topping. That’s your sugar, brown sugar, and cocoa. Mix all together and spread over the top of your cake mixture. I just use my hands and pour it over that way. Don’t stir it in!

Pour hot water gently over the top. Like I said before, do not mix! Just gently pour over all the top.

Place in the oven for 40 minutes. I love to serve it hot and with fresh ice cream. When it’s hot, it’s like a hot fudge cake, Cold, it’s like pudding cake. So delicious!

And there you have it! A delicious chocolate dessert thats quick and easy and for sure to be a family favorite! Let me know if you make this dessert and if you liked it!

Chocolate Cobbler
Ingredients
Cobbler Base
- ¾ cup sugar
- 1 cup self-rising flour
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- ½ cup milk
- 3 tbsp melted butter
- 1 tsp vanilla
Topping Mixture
- ½ cup sugar
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup cocoa powder
- 1½ cup Hot water
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350℉
- In a large bowl, mix together sugar, flour, cocoa, milk, butter, and vanilla.
- Grease a baking dish, 11×7 or 9×13. I prefer the smaller size pan to make thicker cobbler.
- Pour the base mixture into the greased baking dish and spread evenly across the bottom of the pan.
- In the same bowl, mix together your topping mixture. That's your sugar, brown sugar, and cocoa powder.
- Using your hands, spread the topping mixture over the base mixture in your pan. Careful not to stir or mix it in. You want it spread evenly across the top of your base but not incorporated.
- After you have the topping on the base, now take your hot water and pour it evenly on top. Careful again not to mix! You want everything in layers.
- Bake in the preheated 350° oven for 40 minutes.
- Your all done! You can serve hot or cold however you like it best! My favorite is hot with homemade ice cream! Enjoy!
